What we need to do and how we can stay safe with ICT and DCF
By Y5 and Y6 Digital Leaders
Progression Step 1 & 2
We must...
- Always use the chromebooks and iPads gently and carefully.
- Make sure any words and information you find online makes sense to you.
- No nasty typing – if you see this, tell your teacher or an adult!
- No mobile phones in school – if you are using these at home, make sure you use them with an adult.
- Remember: You must follow the e-safety rules when using iPads and chromebooks when you are inside and outside of school. Follow these simple rules:
- Make sure you hold your iPads/Chromebooks/Phones safely and securely – not by the screen!
- Only visit websites with the ‘lock’ sign. Remember – you still need to stay safe even with this lock sign.
- If anyone tries to talk to you that you don’t know, or you get any nasty messages – block and tell an adult!
- Our e-safety rules are the same in and out of school.
Progression Step 1 & 2
We must...
- Always be responsible when using digital technology like chrome books and iPads. Remember you have signed a form that promises you will look after this equipment and be safe and sensible.
- When researching information online, avoid copy and pasting. Copy and pasting is when you go online to find information, and then you copy it directly into your work. Make sure you read the information and understand it first, then put it into your own words. If you are copy and pasting, make sure that you cite it. This means you say what website you got the information from.
- Make sure you understand how important it is to report – this means tell, if someone is being unkind to you online or you see something that makes you feel unsafe.
- You are only allowed to bring in a mobile phone if you are in Year 5 or 6. If you are in Year 5 or 6, make sure you turn your phone off and take it down to the office.
- Our E-Safety policy should be followed inside and outside of school. Follow these rules to stay safe online when you are in school or when you are at home:
- Look after your digital devices. Hold them safely and securely – not by the screen!
- Only visit websites with the ‘padlock’ sign. Remember to stay safe even when visiting padlock websites.
- Block, report and tell a trusted adult if anyone tries to contact you or you go on an unsafe website.
- Our e-safety rules are the same in and out of school.
